Bio

Dr. Turula earned a Bachelor of Science degree with a minor in Environmental Studies from Portland State University. During and after undergrad Dr. Turula worked at Oregon Health & Science University and Thomas Jefferson University studying viral immunology. During these positions, Dr. Turula found a love of teaching and mentorship and chose to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Immunology from The University of Michigan, due to its focus on teaching preparation. After graduation, Dr. Turula accepted an Institutional Research and Academic Career Development Award Fellowship from the NIH which allowed for a postdoctoral appointment with both teaching and research. Since the completion of Dr. Turula’s postdoctoral studies, they have been teaching immunology and infectious diseases to medical students. Dr. Turula has many beloved outdoor activities including cycling, canoeing, hiking, and backpacking. When indoors, Dr. Turula loves to read, play board games, and has many crafty hobbies including weaving and sewing.
